Aneurysm Clipping
During an aneurysm clipping procedure, a surgeon makes an incision behind the hairline or on the back of the head and locates the aneurysm in the brain. A small metal clip similar to a clothespin is placed across the base of the aneurysm, cutting it off from blood supply. The clip remains in place for life, and the aneurysm will shrink over time after the surgery. This surgery generally requires a four- to five-day stay in the hospital, though this can be longer for patients recovering from a ruptured aneurysm.
