Coil embolization is a minimally-invasive procedure that stops blood flow to an aneurysm by placing a small metal coil inside it. In this procedure, your doctor will insert a catheter into a blood vessel in your groin and guide it to the aneurysm. Then the coil is inserted into the aneurysm, where it blocks blood flow and prevents it from rupturing. The tissue then heals around the coil.
